Bird's Nest Hatches GigaSat HD Driveaway Systems
GigaSat has announced delivery of 23 flyaway and drive-away satellite systems in the run up to this year's Beijing Olympics.
"It is not unusual for us to see a surge of business before a major
event such as the Olympics" said GigaSat managing director, Chris Lay "but what is interesting is that the great majority of those systems
delivered were high definition. Chinese broadcasters have grasped the
new standard with both hands and as far as I can tell seem to be
leading the World when it comes to HD satellite newsgathering and
outside broadcasting."
This is great news for GigaSat who manufacture flyaway systems with
antennas up to 3.7m diameter and driveaway systems with antennas up to
2.4m diameter, as most high definition transmissions are still done in
MPEG-2, which needs the high EIRP only these bigger dishes can provide.

vehicles with GigaSat DA-240 (2.4m) uplink system outside the famous
Bird's Nest stadium.
GigaSat are displaying similar systems on their stand in Hall 1 at the IBC show in Amsterdam from September 12 to September 15.
