The Worlds First Genuine Hand Baggage IP Suitcase?

GigaSat claims to have produced the World?s first IP suitcase system which truly meets all current IATA regulations for hand baggage on a commercial aircraft.

The GigaSat MicroSat terminal when packed has been designed specifically to fall within the outside dimensions stipulated by British Airways and other international airlines for hand baggage, at the same time weighing less than 20kg.

The system owes its remarkable light weight and compact dimensions to an innovative folding flat panel antenna.

The system is currently offered in X-band only with SCPC and spread spectrum IP modem options, so is clearly aimed initially at military applications. However a commercial Ku-band version is due to be launched in early 2009 which will be ideal for IP TV newsgathering.

MicroSat can be seen on the GigaSat stand in Hall 1 at this years IBC show in Amsterdam from 12th to 15th September.
